Some beds blend in. This one doesn’t.
At 3.2 meters wide, this wall-mounted wave headboard with a storage bed is the centrepiece of the room. Wrapped in bold burgundy velvet, this bed commissioned by Make Room is impossible to ignore.
The wave design started as a Pinterest inspiration.
But bringing it to life took work as the client was particular about the shape and proportions.
We revised the design five times, adjusting the waves until they were just right.
The final look has fewer but stronger waves—elegant and striking.
The client was clear from the start: the headboard had to be burgundy. But not just any burgundy. We spent time testing different velvets and shades to find the perfect red.
The final choice was a contract-grade velvet. It’s water-resistant and durable, rated at 146,000 martindale rubs.
Curves can be tricky with stiff fabrics. Velvet, in particular, is not forgiving. To avoid puckering, we used a box-edged finishing technique. This ensured smooth, clean lines along the wave design. Our team has done similar headboards before, so they knew exactly how to execute it flawlessly.
The bed isn’t just about looks. It’s designed to work for the client’s small apartment. It features four storage drawers, perfect for keeping clutter out of sight.
Two floating bedside tables are attached to the headboard. Upholstered in faux leather, they’re positioned at a custom height of 60cm. This matches the bed’s sitting height and makes them practical to use. Side tables bought off the shelf, at 45–50cm, would have been too low.
This bed does it all. It’s bold and beautiful, but it also meets the client’s storage needs. The rich burgundy velvet adds warmth and depth to the room. The wave design is a statement of artistry and craftsmanship.
